Chamlies Residence
This 1925 Arts and Crafts Home in the Rose City Park Neighborhood experienced an unfortunate bathroom remodel that is every Homeowner’s nightmare. An unlicensed Contractor promised to perform a remodel with moonlighting electricians and plumbers taking the unsuspecting Homeowner by surprise. Upon inspection of the project, several unsafe and non-Building Code Compliant issues were identified. Furthermore, the project was never permitted or completed by a licensed Contractor invalidating any future potential insurance claim placing the Homeowner in greater financial risk should something happen. I decided to step in and help get the project back on track and complete it with integrity and quality providing future financial protection for this Client.
Taylor Residence
This 1979 former Apartment was converted to a Condominium in the late 1980’s in SW Portland’s Corbett Hill Neighborhood. The condo’s sunroom overlooks the beautiful Willamette River. Our task was to update the 1979 bathroom into a spa-like retreat with beautiful tile and cedar wood walls, spice up the fireplace with natural sandstone to bring the outdoors inside, and revamp the sunroom to create a soothing retreat for morning coffee.
Allen Residence
This 1951 Traditional home is located in Northeast Portland’s Madison High School Neighborhood. The existing bathroom was in need of an update. The custom tile work with “pinwheel” design was accomplished using decorative three-dimensional glass tile. The tile floor incorporated another custom element with an Ann Sacks “Falling Leaves” patterned mural. The body spray/shower unit adds an invigorating shower experience on those gray Portland mornings. The dated Fireplace received a facelift with slate tiles where we again incorporated small glass accent tiles into the stone. This is truly a project that received an “artists touch”!
Andrews Residence
This 1950 Traditional style home is located in Southeast Portland’s Lents Neighborhood. It was a bank-owned property that was purchased by our client who wanted to give it a fresh look. The entire house was retrofitted with new plumbing, electrical, and a new bathroom. Even in this very “budget conscious” project, we were able to incorporate glass tile accents in the shower, a new vinyl floor, new window, new sink and vanity, and a custom built-in shelf where an old mirrored medicine cabinet was removed. This project adds a tremendous amount to the home’s value and quality of life for our client.
Miles Residence
This 1910 Bungalow in SE Portland’s Mt. Scott-Arleta Neighborhood has been owned by our client for 30+ years. The home was built before bathrooms were a mainstay inside the home. A previous owner added a bathroom decades ago to the old rear porch. Maintaining the historic character by keeping the old claw-foot tub, pedestal sink, linen cabinet, and woodwork was important. A new tile floor, new toilet, wall and woodwork repairs, and new paint gave this a look that will last for another 30 years!
Saturn Residence
This 1947 traditional style home is located in NE Portland’s Beaumont-Wilshire Neighborhood. Our client’s goal was to maintain the original character of the home while providing new plumbing throughout the home, a new Master Bathroom, and updating the main floor Bathroom and Kitchen floor with eco-friendly materials. We started by replacing all of the existing galvanized water supply lines in the home with new pipes. The Master Bathroom was totally demolished and a new shower, window, toilet, pedestal sink, mirrored cabinet, lighting fixtures, wall heater, and tile flooring were installed. The main floor bathroom had beautiful woodwork details and glasswork that remained while taking the tub enclosure to the studs. Beautiful tile was installed on the walls around the bathtub and new plumbing fixtures finished off the space. The Kitchen floor was removed (all four layers) and replaced with eco-friendly Cork flooring and a new Energy-Star dishwasher to update the space. This was the first phase of work in the Kitchen and we look forward to starting the second phase in the coming year.
Rielly Residence
This 1980 condominium is located in SE Portland in the Ascot Park Neighborhood. Our client started a bathroom remodel project and called us in to finish the project for her. We updated the bathroom with a new shower enclosure and rain glass door, toilet, granite countertop, birch vanity cabinet, and new plumbing and lighting fixtures. We also removed all of the existing flooring from the living room, dining room, kitchen, entryway, and rear hallway and replaced it with a beautiful Bamboo Laminate floor. Lastly, we replaced her aging steel front entry door with a beautiful ThermaTru fiberglass door with window. The challenge was giving her an upscale look on the interior while complying with the Condominium Association’s color standards on the exterior. The fiberglass front door enabled us to stain the inside a rich English Walnut color and paint the exterior in green to meet the Association’s requirements. Our on-site manager, Bubba, a feisty Chihuahua was there every day to provide constant feedback and companionship!
